Mavis H. Wiley, 93, of Three Mile Bay

Mavis H. Wiley, 93, Three Mile Bay, passed away at home on Sunday, December 3 under the care of her family. She was born on March 10, 1924 in Watertown, NY the daughter of the late Benjamin and Mildred Harris Countryman.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Becker-Cleveland Funeral Home, Chaumont, NY.

Mavis Graduated from Chaumont High School in 1941. She married Kent Wiley on October 3, 1942. Mr. Wiley left for the armed forces on October 20, 1942. Mavis joined him in Texas a few months later, staying there for about a year before moving back to Three Mile Bay when Kent went overseas for the war. When Kent returned He and Mavis settled in Three Mile Bay where they ran a dairy farm for 30 years, and still reside there today. Mavis and Kent just celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary.

Mavis was a member of the Bay view Club, the Three Mile Bay Auxillary, Chaumont OES #225, North Country Quilting Guild and was an extraordinary crosstitcher. She was a member of the Three Mile Bay Methodist Church and when she was younger she attended the Little White Church on Point Peninsula.

Surviving her besides her husband Kent is a son and his wife, Preston and Joan Wiley, Perryville, NY; a daughter in law, Kathy Wiley, Three Mile Bay; a brother, Keith and Shirley Countryman, Chaumont; a sister Mildred Higgens, Chaumont; caregivers, Betty Wiley-Cosselman and her husband Brian Cosselman; 7 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.

She is predeceased by a son, Craig Wiley who passed away March 1, 2003; a brother, Arlington Countryman; and two sisters, Lois Aubertine and Jean Denny.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 7, 2017 at 11:00 am at the Three Mile Bay Methodist Church with the Rev. Nancy Stanley officiating, Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery in Cape Vincent. Calling hours will be Wednesday, December 6 from 2-7 pm at the Becker-Cleveland Funeral Home, Chaumont.
