Caroline Ann Allen, 87, Rutland, passed away peacefully Thursday evening, February 22nd, at her home with her family by her side.
The funeral will be 2 pm Monday, February 26th at the Reed & Benoit Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Duthie officiating. Calling hours will be from 12 noon until 2 pm on Monday. Spring burial will be in the Maple Hill Cemetery, Town of Rutland.
She is survived by her husband Jack; her sons Gary (Judy), Watertown, Michael (Kathy), Watertown, Timothy (Colleen), Sackets Harbor, Lynn (Susan), Watertown; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; her sisters Sally Scanlon, Florida, Rosemary Kingsley, Watertown and a sister-in-law, Joan Allen, Watertown; nieces and nephews.
Caroline was born in Watertown, a daughter to the late Bernard and Blanche O’Connor Kelly. She graduated from Watertown High School. She married Jackson Allen April 7th, 1951 in the rectory of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart church. Mrs. Allen was a homemaker on the family farm.
She was a very talented lady and a member of the North Country Quilting Guild. She enjoyed creating quilts for family and friends, crocheting, knitting and china painting. She and Jack enjoyed traveling especially with the Antique Car Club.
The family would like to thank to all the nurses and aides with Hospice who so wonderfully cared for her in her time of illness.
