Evelyn Jennie Myers, 90, Formerly of Denmark

Evelyn Jennie Myers, 90, formerly of Denmark, passed away peacefully and surrounded by family, Saturday, February 24, 2018, at the Lewis County Residential Healthcare Facility.

A calling hour will be held on Tuesday, February 27, 2018 from 10:00-11:00am at the Lundy Funeral Home & Cremation Service Inc., located at 500 State Street in Carthage, NY 13619. A Funeral Service will follow at 11:00am in the Chapel of the Funeral Home with Reverend Reed, officiating. Burial will take place in the Swinburne Cemetery in Deer River in the Spring.

She is survived by her loving children, Gale (Sharon) Myers of Castorland; Gary (Gail) Myers of Denmark; and Kevin (Gwynne) Myers of West Martinsburg; 7 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren; 1 great-great granddaughter; several sisters-in-law, Eileen Harris, Fran Harris, Clarice Harris, Carol Harris, Winifred Myers, Muriel (Peg) Arndt, and brother-in-law, Carl (Sam) Arndt; and several nephews and nieces, including Marlene Sheldon of Copenhagen.

She is predeceased by her husband of 50 years, Curtis R. Myers; 8 brothers and sisters; and an infant grandson, Andrew Paul Myers. Evelyn was born July 6, 1927 in Champion, NY, the youngest daughter of Arthur and Gertrude Harris. She grew up on the family farm, attending country school in Champion and Copenhagen High School. On February 1, 1946 she married Curtis R. Myers in Carthage, NY. with the Rev. Howard A. Griswold officiating. The couple raised their family in Denmark with Evelyn working as homemaker.

Evelyn was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother and loved family gatherings. She enjoyed outdoor activities, including camping, gardening, snowmobiling and bird-watching, and was especially fond of hobbies such as reading history and puzzle books. Many heartfelt thanks to Dr. Lyndaker, the nurses, aides, staff and “resident friends” of the 3rd floor of Lewis County Residential Healthcare Facility, for your professional and compassionate care and your friendship to our mother, Evelyn.
