In honor of St. Patrick's Day this month, Chef Chris Manning makes us an Irish treat.

He uses an Irish whiskey cream sauce to create an Irish Pub Steak.

He uses the sauce to top a medium-rare New York strip that's stacked on top of slices of Irish soda bread, cheddar cheese, and tomato.

You can see the whole process in the video.

Irish Pub Steak

- 2 steaks, any cut (the chef uses NY strip)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1/4 cup diced onion
- 2 strips bacon, cook and diced
- 1/2 cup sliced mushrooms
- 1 tablespoon horseradish
- 2 shots (about 3 ounces) Irish whiskey
- Salt & pepper to taste
- 1/2 cup heavy cream

Heat olive oil in pan and sauté steaks 4 to 5 minutes each side for medium rare. Remove steaks from pan and allow to rest

Add butter to pan and sauté onions until they just begin to wilt, then add mushrooms and cook until they soften.

Add bacon, horseradish, and whiskey. Use lighter to ignite whiskey to burn it off. Season with salt and pepper. Add cream and simmer to thicken sauce until it just coats the back of a spoon.

Stack steak on top of slices of Irish soda bread, cheddar cheese, and tomato. Spoon sauce on top. Serve with mashed potatoes, if desired.

Pair with Marquette wine from Coyote Moon Vineyards.
