Child Opioid Risks, Stroke Recovery & Treating Asthma

Posted: Updated:

A study shows children admitted to hospital intensive care units for opioid overdoses doubled between 2004 and 2015.

Methadone accounted for nearly 20 percent of the narcotic ingested by children between the ages of 1 and 5 years old.

Stroke Recovery

Researchers in Scotland say caregivers should consider the social and emotional impact stroke victims face as part of their recovery.

They say balancing the need for hope with physical rehabilitation is essential.

Treating Asthma

New findings show that increasing the dosage of inhaled steroids for young asthma patients when severe flare-ups occur doesn't always work.

In fact, the study published in the New England Journal Of Medicine shows an increase from a low to high dose could stunt a child's growth.
