A celebration of a life well lived  for A. Ernest Jeneault, age 87, of Ogdensburg, NY, will be held on Saturday, March 10, 2018, at 1:30PM at St. Mary’s Cathedral with Rev. Joseph Morgan officiating.

Mr. Jeneault passed away on Tuesday, March 6, 2018, at Crouse Hospital in Syracuse, NY.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, March 9, 2018, at Frary Funeral Home, Ogdensburg, from 2:00PM to 4:00PM and 6:00PM to 8:00PM. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery in the spring.

Ernie was born on May 17, 1930, in Hammond, NY, the son of Albert Jeneault and Alma Marion Jeneault. He attended high school at Hammond Central School and graduated in 1948, then went on to attend Cornell University. Mr. Jeneault was drafted into the United States Army and achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant, 37th Cavalry, and was stationed at Fort Riley, Kansas during the Korean War in 1953 and was honorably discharged in 1955.

Ernie is predeceased by his parents Albert and Alma Jeneault, and a sister Alice Emrich and her husband Norman and a grandchild, Noah Jeneault. Ernie married Rosemarie Anne Brunet on November 24, 1956. Rosemarie predeceased him on January 6, 1983. He was married to Carolyn S. Stevenson on February 11, 1984. Carolyn predeceased him on December 7, 2011. He married Joan Ladouceur Todd on September 7, 2013.

Ernie is survived by his 9 children, 25 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.  His children are Ernest G. Jeneault, Juliette Ross and her husband Kevin, Jacob J. Jeneault and his wife, Sara, all of Ogdensburg, NY. Jeanette Jeneault and her husband, Clark, of Taylor Mill, Kentucky. Lisa MacDougall and her husband Steven of Brewerton N.Y.  Denise Foland and her husband Charlie of Brewerton, NY. Thad Jeneault and his wife Debbie of Liverpool, NY. Joel Jeneault of Farmington, NY. Kate Eure and her husband Jason of Morehead City, NC. Grandchildren, Ernie Jeneault, Sarah Jeneault, Rose Jeneault, Caitrin Columbo and her husband, James, Rhianna Hickey, Garrett Hickey, Melissa Nord and her husband Erik, Chelsey D’Eredita and her husband Jess, Luke MacDougall, Chaz Foland, David Foland, Elizabeth Jeneault, Morgan Jeneault, Colin Ross, Justin Ross, Shelby Ross, Jillian Jeneault, Cameron Eure, Sydney Eure, Cody Eure, Austin Morley Sloan, Kennedy Sloan, Mia Jeneault, Grace Jeneault. Great Grand Children Payton Nord, Avery Nord, and Eliana Khoury.

Mr. Jeneault worked for New York Telephone as a lineman, and installer/repairman for 37 years.

Ernie loved athletics and loved watching his children and grandchildren excel in football, lacrosse, cheerleading, hockey, soccer, baseball, basketball, and track and field.  Ernie loved cooking for friends and family and never turned down anyone who needed a cook for a spaghetti fundraiser.  Ernie excelled at fast pitch softball, baseball, basketball and loved beating anyone in a good foot race.

His was an avid fan of the New York Yankees and New York Giants and many an evening and Sunday afternoon were spent rooting for his favorite teams.  Ernie was a member of the Elks Club and was a past Exalted Ruler of Ogdensburg Elks Lodge. He was instrumental in the construction of the new Elks Lodge. He was also the New York State Elks Vice President and a Past District Deputy to the Elks Grand Exalted Ruler.  Additionally, he was a member of the Knights of Columbus and Amvets. Mr. Jeneault served as an Ogdensburg City Council Member and was a member of the Democratic Committee. Ernie also assisted and served on the Ogdensburg Housing Authority Board, and Minor Hockey Board.
