Watertown Man Gets 7 Years In Prison For Crash With Police, Drugs
A 45 year old Watertown man is going to prison for driving through a backyard to avoid police - only to crash head-on into a police cruiser.
Shawn Granger was sentenced Wednesday in Jefferson County Court to seven years in prison and three years post release supervision.
He was also ordered to pay nearly $17,000 in restitution.
Granger pleaded guilty in January to second-degree reckless endangerment and third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.
Last April, Granger fled from police in a sports utility vehicle, drove through the backyard of 301 North Hamilton, exited the driveway and collided head-on with a police SUV.
The officer driving the police vehicle was treated at Samaritan Medical Center for minor injuries.
Afterward, members of the Metro-Jefferson Drug Task Force executed a search warrant at Granger's 3311 West Main Street home and found nearly 34 grams of cocaine, eight grams of heroin, a digital scale, items often used for packaging drugs, and several items of drug paraphernalia.
