North Country Public Radio is celebrating half a century on the air.
It started small and now reaches one-third of the state and into Canada.
The public was invited to the station's 50th birthday party.
At the beginning, the station covered just St. Lawrence County. Now it covers 14 rural counties.
“We wanted to tie the whole thing together and make the connections between little communities scattered across this fairly remote region,” said Ellen Rocco, station manager.
An open house goes until 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.
