William L. Curtis Jr., 76 of Watertown

William L. Curtis Jr., 76 of Hillside Dr. Watertown passed away suddenly in Scranton, PA while attending an antique tool show.

William was born June 24, 1941 in Buffalo, NY the son of William L. and Helen Austin Curtis Sr.  He graduated from Sackets Harbor High School, Hamilton College and received his master’s degree in education from Colgate University.

“Bill” was a teacher in Watertown for 12 years and then became a Labor Relations Specialist for NYSUT in Watertown.  He retired on January 1st, 1998.

Bill married Judith A Ferris on August 18, 1981 in Watertown.

He was a former Commissioner for St. Lawrence Planning Board, Dispute Resolution Center Board and Donor to several charities.  He was an avid antique tool collector and member of several Antique Collectors and Dealers.

He is survived by his wife Judy and two daughters: Susan (James) Yerdon of Adams Center, Barbara (William) French of North Chili, NY.  He has two grandsons and one great grandson, a sister Elizabeth McMillan of Baltimore, Maryland and a brother Robert Curtis of Rochester, NY, nieces and nephews.  His dog Lucy was a special companion.

Funeral services will be Tuesday 11:00 AM at the Johnson Funeral Home, Dexter.  Calling hours will be from 2-4 and 7-9 PM on Monday March 12th.  He will be cremated following the services.
