State police arrested 57 year old Stephen White of Calverton, New York late Thursday night.

Troopers said they clocked his car traveling 100 miles per hour in a 65 mph speed zone in the northbound lane of Route 81 in the town of Pamelia.

When police tried to pull him over, White is alleged to have started driving erratically across both northbound lanes, speeding up and slowing down several times.

According to police, White then attempted to make a 90 degree turn to the left and spun out into the median.

Troopers said White then tried to run away from the car but got back in, locking himself inside.

When police tried to arrest him, they said White began to kick at them in attempt to get away.  He was taken into custody without further incident and no injuries reported.

White was charged with the following:

- second-degree reckless endangerment
- third-degree unlawful fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle
- resisting arrest
- driving while ability impaired by drugs
- second-degree obstructing governmental administration
White was arraigned in Orleans Town Court and was ordered held in the county jail in lieu of $3,500 bail or $7,000 bond.
