Stroke Survivor To Share Story At Heart Walk

Posted: Updated:

One north country woman will tell her story at the Heart Walk this weekend.

Debby Schrecengast is the American Heart Association's Stroke Honoree.

She's survived not one, not two, but three strokes since 2015.

The most recent one was just a few weeks ago.

She said she started getting involved in the heart walk years ago because of health problems in her family.

But now with her personal connection, she feels it's important to tell her story and help others.

"It's better to be proactive than reactive. Go to your doctor. Have your check-ups. If your blood pressure is high, don't ignore it. I just like to share my story to let people know that you can bounce back from this," she said.

The North Country Heart Walk is this Saturday at the McVean Gym at Jefferson Community College.

Registration begins at 8 a.m. and the walk starts at 9:30.

7 news is a proud sponsor and anchor John Moore will be an emcee.
