Valin To Return To North Country Mound This Summer

A north country athlete is coming back to the area to play collegiate league baseball with the Watertown Rapids this summer.

LaFargeville native Matthew Valin will be taking the mound to continue his power pitching in the Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League.

Valin is a 2015 graduate of LaFargeville Central School, where he played varsity baseball for the Red Knights from 2012 - 2015. 

He is currently on the pitching staff at SUNY Cortland.

The 6'2", 200-pound lefty is in his first season with Cortland where he has posted an ERA of 0.93 over 9.2 innings of work, collecting 18 strikeouts to date.

The Rapids' opening day game at the fairgrounds in Watertown will be Saturday, June 2.
