The Watertown Red and Black officially opened their 2018 Northeastern Football Alliance season Saturday afternoon at the Fairgrounds YMCA.
The team held its first official practice indoors due to the winter like weather.
Coach George Ashcraft's team begins its 2nd full season in the NFA.
Last year the Red and Black posted a 10-2 record and lost in the semifinals to Troy 16-10.
The team returns a number of key players but has to replace quarterback Harry Rascoe and most of the offensive line.
Ashcraft said the first couple of weeks of practice will be dedicated to working on the basics.
"We want to see what their abilities are for offensively on the line, getting off the ball, Ashcraft said. "That first two or three steps is important whether you'll be passing or running."
