For the 2nd time in 4 years, the Watertown Wolves will be looking to take home the Commissioner's Trophy and the Federal Hockey League Championship.

Saturday night at the Fairgrounds Ice Arena, in the longest game in Federal Hockey League history, Gavin Yates scored in the 2nd overtime as the Wolves beat Carolina 3-2 to sweep the Thunderbirds 2 games to none in the best of 3 series.

It was the 2nd night in a row the Wolves needed overtime to come away with a victory. The Wolves will now meet Port Huron in the best of 5 final which begins Friday night in Michigan.

"Ah, yeah it was a hard fought battle. You gotta tip your hat to the Carolina Thunderbirds, they're a great team Their coach put together a great team and it was a hard fought battle. Friday's game we were down 4-0 and the boys came back and won 5-4 in overtime. And then last night we were down 2-1 and 4 minutes to go, Cameron Dimmitt tied it up. Gavin Yates got the 2nd overtime winner again for 2 nights in a row so congrats to him," said  Wolves coach Trevor Karasiewicz.
