A friend and colleague of many at 7 News has died.

Former morning show host Mark Mason lost his battle with cancer Thursday. He was 54.

Mark reported the morning news alongside Beth Hall for many years.

He was diagnosed with brain cancer, which he fought courageously for years.

In the video are pictures from the 2017 Relay For Life rally for people fighting cancer.

Mark was a newscaster, reported the weather, was a disc jockey and, most of all, a musician who believed in the power of music.

He was a big supporter of community events and it was that community that turned out to help Mark with fundraisers to help pay his medical expenses.

Mark died at the Hospice of Jefferson County residence in Watertown.

We extend our condolences to his family.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete with Cleveland Funeral Home in Watertown.
