SUNY Potsdam Mulls New Master's Program

Posted: Updated:

SUNY Potsdam may start a new master's program in educational leadership.

Those are the programs that produce principals and superintendents for local schools.

SUNY Potsdam is working with St. Lawrence-Lewis BOCES to form the program.

It comes just as St. Lawrence University considers phasing out three of its master's programs in the subject.

“Our dean of education was actually in conversation with some of the folks at BOCES and had heard that there was a demand from local educators to be able to access these kind of programs,” said Alexandra Jacobs Wilke, SUNY Potsdam director of public relations.

SUNY Potsdam graduate school officials could be ready to present their plan to the college by fall. It could take a year or more to get final approvals and actually start classes.
