Watertown city council member Mark Walczyk was absent from Tuesday night's work session.
Instead, he was walking in the Jefferson County Fair fireman's parade, campaigning for his 116th Assembly District run.
When we asked Walczyk why he wasn't at the meeting, he said he "was committed to the parade before" council set the session.
City officials we spoke with say missing this type of meeting isn't that big of a concern to them.
"It would be different if it were a city council meeting where votes were being taken," interim City Manager Brad Minnick said, "as opposed to a work session which is more of an informative exchange of questions and answers."
Other council member said they were invited to be in the parade, but went to the council session instead.
The 116th Assembly seat is currently held by Democrat Addie Jenne, who is running for re-election.
