A water problem is forcing the Community Action Planning Council (CAPC) to close up shop for the day.
The CAPC offices on Davidson Street in Watertown closed around 11 a.m. Tuesday because of a water main break in the basement.
All water in the building is shut off.
Executive director Melinda Gault says she had to send 25 workers home to be safe.
"In their attempts to fix it, they determined they needed a new valve," she said. "They went and got that and they're fixing it now. To be on the safe side, we're closing the building down today."
The closing affects the CAPC's Family Center and all its services, including the food pantry, and the Jefferson-Lewis Child Care Project.
Maintenance workers are fixing the problem and CAPC is expected to reopen at 8 a.m. on Friday.
