It's a different kind of war on drugs - the war against the stigma of drug addiction.
A crowd gathered outside city hall in Watertown Wednesday to bring awareness to the opioid crisis.
Local leaders spoke along with people recovering from addiction.
Organizers want people to know there is help to be found in the north country.
"To bring education about this issue and awareness to people and let them know there's help in the community and we're here to facilitate that," said Steve Jennings, Alliance for Better Communities chairman.
People pinned hearts to a tree to honor loved ones struggling with addiction and the 174 Americans who die every day because of drug overdoses.
