Some Ogdensburg residents are being advised to boil their water before using it.
City officials say the advisory affects the 900 and 1000 blocks of Lafayette Street and the 600 and 700 blocks of Hasbrouck Street.
Officials say the problem is because of low water pressure due to a faulty valve where the two streets intersect. Low water pressure, they say, increases the chance that untreated water and harmful microbes can enter the water.
Boiled or bottled water should be used for drinking, making ice, washing dishes, brushing teeth, and preparing food until further notice.
Officials say repairs are underway and full pressure will be restored. They say residents will be notified two or three days later after tests confirm the water is safe to drink.
