Watertown Temperature Ties Record High

Posted: Updated:

Tuesday's unseasonably warm weather made it feel more like summer than fall.

In fact, the National Weather Service says the temperature at the Watertown International Airport tied the record high for October 9.

The thermometer climbed to 81 degrees, tying the record set in 1949.

The record low temperature for this date was 23 degrees, set in 1978.

The average temperature for October 9 is 61 degrees.

Meanwhile in Clayton, boats are still in the water and people were taking full advantage of the sunshine.

"Oh, it's a blessing and I know it's going to turn any minute now," said Frank Faccioli, who lives on Oneida Lake.

No matter what people were doing Tuesday, it was easy to enjoy the day.

"It's 80 degrees here. It's beautiful. I just want to walk around and enjoy every minute of it,"  said Nancy Lambert of West Monroe.

"It's a great time for pictures and meeting people. Beautiful lights and colors and a bit faded. It's quite nice on pictures,"  said Jerome Silvestre, a tourist from France.
