Morley Firefighter Honored During Last Call

Posted: Updated:

A veteran Morley firefighter went out on his last call Tuesday.

A procession of fire trucks escorted Morley firefighter Michael Perkins, who died at his home Friday at the age of 73.

He was described as a man who dedicated his life to helping other.

For more than 50 years, he was a volunteer firefighter, he helped build the fire house and loved driving the tanker truck.

He served in just about every post including fire chief.

“He was pretty well liked by everybody. He took everybody under his arms. We joked around, laughed around and he was kind of the rock of the department," said Joe Brooks, Morley fire chief.

St. Lawrence County dispatch issued the ceremonial last call for Perkins at 10:40 a.m., honoring him for a life well-spent.
