A Norfolk man is accused trying to break into a Catholic school in the town of Massena.

State police were called Saturday morning to Holy Name of Jesus Academy on Trippany Road.

They received a report that a man was trying to illegally enter the school.

When troopers got there, they found 30 year old Tyler Schmidt.

According to police, Schmidt picked up a rock and threw it toward the front door of the school, breaking the glass entrance door.

Schmidt was taken into custody and charged with second-degree attempted burglary, second-degree criminal mischief and resisting arrest.

He was arraigned in Massena Town Court and ordered held in the St. Lawrence County Jail in lieu of $5,000 bail or $10,000 bond.
