Walters Murder Trial Will Likely Happen In February Or March

Posted: Updated:

A trial for the man charged in the deaths of his wife and a state trooper will likely happen in February or March.

Justin Walters is accused of shooting and killing his wife, Nichole Walters, and Trooper Joel Davis at the Walters' home in July 2017.

Both the prosecution and the defense have been waiting on the results of psychological evaluations on Walters, who is a former soldier.

Jefferson County District Attorney Kristyna Mills says those results will probably not affect whether a trial happens.

Walters is scheduled to be in court on January 8 for a pre-trial conference.
