Walczyk Sworn in as 116th District AssemblymanPosted: Updated:
Mark Walczyk has been sworn in to represent New York State's 116th Assembly District.
After winning 54 percent of the vote in November, Walczyk says he's ready to take on the new role.
"I'm just really ready in a new year to get right to work,” Walczyk said. “I am proud and honored to represent this area and I can't wait to get into the office."
Friends, family, and community members attended the ceremony in the village of Clayton Tuesday afternoon.
Walczyk says he will start working on the issues that matter most to him and his constituents.
"I certainly want to do everything I can to see taxes get lowered and a more friendly business climate here in northern New York, so that this beautiful river district that we live in can continue to thrive."
Walczyk says he looks forward to listening to the people and bringing their ideas to the forefront.
"Making sure that their voice is heard and that's who sets the priorities,” Walczyk said. “Remembering every day that I work for the people of northern New York is going to be so important."
Walczyk, a Republican, will hold the seat for a two-year term. The 116th assembly district, also known as the River District, represents parts of Jefferson and St. Lawrence counties.
