PAYSON, AZ – Darwin A. Dunn, 89, a longtime resident of Madrid, passed away on Tuesday, January 1, 2019 at his home Payson, Arizona. In past several years, he resided his summers in St. Regis Falls and wintered in Payson.
Darwin was born on April 30, 1929 in Alburg, NY, son of the late Leon J. Sr., and Eunice (Griffin) Dunn. He attended West and North Bangor Schools. He married Anna B. Casey on September 13, 1948 at St. Augustine Church in North Bangor, with Rev. Gerald Kellogg officiating. Anna predeceased him on December 9, 2006. He married Joan Bombard on September 8, 2007 at St. Lawrence Church in North Lawrence.
Darwin worked in the Smelting Department at Alcoa, retiring after almost 41 years. He was a member of St. John Baptist Church in Madrid, Alcoa’s 25 Year Club, where he served on the Board of Directors and a past member of the Massena Moose Lodge. He enjoyed traveling and gardening.
Darwin is survived by his wife, Joan; his children and their spouses, Daniel and Laura Dunn of Fort Worth, Texas; Darwin E. and Patricia Dunn of Payson, Arizona; and Denise and Barry McGranahan of Roundup, Montana; 11 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and his first wife, Darwin was predeceased by his twin sons, Craig and Greg Dunn in January 1954; a great granddaughter, Samantha Newvine in April 1997; his brother Leon J. Dunn in 2001; and an infant brother and sister at birth.
Friends may call at the Donaldson Funeral Home, Massena on Monday, January 7, 2018 from 4-7:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, January 8, 2018 at 11:00 AM at St. Mary’s Church, Brushton, with Rev. Raymond Moreau celebrating. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Brushton.
