A couple spots to charge up are coming to Lewis County.
Two electric vehicle charging stations will be installed in Lowville. One at the Department of Social Services county office on Stowe Street, the other at the new Jefferson Community College building.
County Manager Ryan Piche says the charging stations are expected to be installed this month.
"They can be used for county vehicles. We actually have an electric vehicle that the Social Services Department uses. But they can also be used by the public. So anyone can come in and charge their vehicle at one of our stations in Lowville," stated Piche.
Lewis County received a $100,000 grant from New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA). The county is using it for green energy projects like the charging stations.
