The Clarkson Men in action on the road Sunday afternoon as they met the Vermont Catamounts. In the 2nd period, the game tied at 1, John Carter McLean rips yarn on a 2 on 1 break, putting the Golden Knights up 2-1. Vermont looking to tie it but Golden Knights goalie, Jake Kiley comes up with a diving save. The Golden Knights appear to go up 3-1 on a Nico Sturm goal, but the goal is waved off due to interference. With 7 minutes left, Vermont ties it at 2 on Liam Coughlin's one timer. The game goes on to overtime and with 20 seconds left, Aaron Thow's shot finds the mark, giving the Golden Knights a 3-2 overtime win.
The Clarkson Lady Golden Knights closing out the 2 game Friendship Series in Belfast, Northern Ireland Sunday as they faced Northeastern for a 2nd straight day. The 2 teams skated to a 3 all overtime tie on Saturday.
In the 1st period, Kassidy Anderson gets Northeastern on the board as she dented the back of the net off a faceoff at the 6:46 mark. Northeastern on top 1-0. Later in the 1st, the Lady Golden Knights tie it up as Loren Gabel split the pipes off an assist from Josie Pozzebon. The game tied at 1. Clarkson with a chance to take the lead, but Gabel's backhander goes off the post. That's the way the score stayed until the 3rd period when Alina Mueller rips yarn, giving Northeastern a 2-1 lead. 8 minutes later, Anderson scores her 2nd goal of the game to seal it as Northeastern beat Clarkson 3-1.
After the game, Clarkson coach, Matt Desrosiers talked about the game and his team's experience playing in Belfast.
"Yeah, I actually thought it was a really good game. I thought both teams played pretty well, it was pretty back and forth. Both teams had their chances, I thought it could have gone either way. They just advantage of a few more opportunities, but overall, I thought it was a pretty good weekend," Desrosiers said, "it's been spectacular, you know, getting out there and seeing the sights and getting to know a little more about the culture. I think our players and our staff had a really great time and then it just capped off with two really good games so we couldn't ask for a better experience, it's just been fantastic."
