Your Turn: Stefanik Vote, Joint Airport & A Centenarian's BirthdayPosted: Updated:
Diane Rutherford was off Monday, so we dug into the electronic mailbag for viewers' comments on news of the past week.
Congresswoman Elise Stefanik broke with much of the Republican party by voting to end the partial government shutdown.
That drew criticism from several viewers.
Leesa Riggs wrote: "I hoped you would stand your ground, not buckle. As important as it is to get federal workers paid and back to work. It is just as important to stand firm on the agenda ahead."
Others, such as Rob Grant, had a different take: "Congresswoman, thanks for being the adult in the room."
Fitz Brash wondered: "It's amazing to see you guys flip on her so quickly. She was your girl a hot minute ago!"
Viewers appear divided over whether Ogdensburg and Massena should have just one airport between them.
Dakota Courtois: "It would provide better access to the region both for tourism as well as for trade with Canada."
Gina Hurteau Shoen: "If we close one airport will we be able to provide for the added business at a single hub?"
Edward Flanagan is turning 100 on Tuesday. He broke into song during a party family members threw for him on Saturday. Many people sent their best wishes and thanked the World War II veteran for his service.
Joyce Hughes-Sweeney wrote: "Happy birthday, young man. Have a great day."
Diane will be back next week.
