Snow's Coming, Storm Warning Issued

Posted: Updated:

Snow is coming to the north country Wednesday and Thursday. The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning for southeastern St. Lawrence County, and winter storm watches for Jefferson and Lewis counties.

7 News chief weathercaster John Kubis says we can expect snow to start about 3 AM Wednesday, continue off and on throughout the day, and intensify Wednesday night into Thursday morning.

By the time it's over, Watertown could see 6 inches of snow; the Tug Hill and Adirondacks, a foot to 14 inches; Lowville, 8-9 inches; Canton and Potsdam, 6 inches.

Kubis says the snow will be unusual in that it will come from the northwest, and will be fine grained, sand-like.

The National Weather Service forecasts a high in the low 30s Wednesday, and a low in the teens Wednesday night.

A reminder: it gets bitterly cold late in the week: by Friday night, temperatures will be below zero.
