Hockey players from near and far in Alexandra Bay to play some pond hockey this weekend. 25 teams competed in the Thousand Islands Pond Hockey Classic at Swan Bay Resort.
"Pond Hockey is a good time. I mean we play hockey together back home. And we always try to find tournaments that are outside or any tournaments," said Jason Friend, a hockey player from Plattsburgh.
Spectators were able to watch for free and enjoy food.
Event organizers say the tournament helps boost the Winter economy in the Thousand Islands.
"There are hotel rooms that are rented in Alexandria Bay. Hotel rooms in Clayton. A lot of the eateries are full for the next couple of days. So it's just great for the local economy," said organizer, Bobby Cantwell.
