Sunday Sports: Basketball Doubleheader At Lyme Central

Posted: Updated:

A rare Sunday high school basketball doubleheader took place in Chaumont as Lyme hosted Lafargeville in both boys' and girls' action. The girls would play in the first game and this one would be a thriller that needed overtime.

In the 4th quarter, Olivia Ososkalo drives to the hoop for a bucket. Score: 41-40 Lyme. Tied at 41, Abby Gaumes finishes in transition, putting LaFargeville up 2 for a score of 43-41. With 20 seconds left, Franscesca Gamel hits on the drive putting Lyme on top by 1. Gaumes ties it at 50 on a free throw and it was on to overtime. In overtime it was Gaumes with a basket and she's fouled. LaFargeville up 1. Lyme answered as Gabby Madeline kissed 2 off the glass and Lyme was on top by 2. Tied at 55, Izzy Soluri nails the pullup in the lane and LaFargeville beats Lyme 57.

The late game was a battle of the top 2 teams in the Frontier League D Division as Lyme hosted Lafargeville. In the 1st quarter, Josh Stowell takes the feed inside and lays in 2, LaFargeville up by 2. Back the other way, Isaiah Wilson gets the board and bucket, tying the game. Then it was Ryan Aubertine hitting the baby hook in the lane, Lyme up by 1. Off the turnover, it's Wilson with a basket, expanding the Lyme lead to 3. It was Wilson again with a dish to Damon Blaha for the bucket, Lyme now in front by 5. Owen Parliment ends the Lyme run with the finish, putting the Red Knights within 4. Lyme wins 69-63.
