1 Dead, 2 Injured In Separate Snowmobile CrashesPosted: Updated:
One person died and two others injured in three separate snowmobile crashes in northern New York over the weekend.
State police say 56 year old Frank Prendergast of Stony Point, N.Y. died after he was struck by another snowmobile in the Herkimer County town of Webb Friday night.
Troopers say Prendergast's snowmobile went off the trail and got stuck. He stepped onto the trail, where he was struck by a snowmobile operated by another member of the group he was riding with.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
State police also report that a Fulton man was airlifted to a Syracuse hospital following a snowmobile crash in the Oswego County town of Parish Saturday night.
Troopers say 41 year old Jeffrey Wise lost control of his machine on a curve and struck a tree.
He was taken to Upstate University Hospital for treatment of internal injuries.
An Ontario, Ohio woman was injured Sunday afternoon when she was thrown from a snowmobile she was a passenger on in the town of Boonville.
Oneida County sheriff's deputies say 51 year old Rita Shinde complained of pain to her right leg and side.
She was taken to St, Elizabeth's in Utica for treatment.
