Free Dental Services Now Offered At Lyme Central SchoolPosted: Updated:
Students at Lyme Central School are now able to get free dental services without leaving the building.
The North Country Family Health Center cut the ribbon Monday on its newest school-based dental program location at Lyme Central School.
On Mondays, a dental hygienist will be able to see 10 students for screenings and cleanings.
Health officials say not only is it convenient for parents who do not have to take time off from work, there's also no out of pocket cost for parents.
"If children do have dental insurance or health insurance, we will bill that but, again, the out of pocket cost if they're seen in school, that's another benefit for the parents, having them seen," said April Fallon of the North Country Family Health Center. "If they don't have insurance, they're still able to get the services in school."
The North Country Family Health Center received a $300,000 state grant with help from Senator Patty Ritchie to expand the program to both Lyme Central and ACES program at Jefferson-Lewis BOCES.
