Watertown's Central Street On Track For New Sidewalks

Posted: Updated:

A street in Watertown will get a sidewalk overhaul and city leaders say it's much needed.

In a story we did about five years ago, residents said they were concerned about Central Street's sidewalks.

Now, the city is going to use $370,000 in grant money to pave new walkways there. The project also links to the newly renovated riverfront on Huntington Street.

"It's an area in the city we've really been focusing on in the last few years using this type of funding," Planning and Community Development director Michael Lumbis said. "This will complement those efforts and bring some much-needed improvement to the neighborhood."

City staff told city council members at a work session Monday night that if all goes well, the sidewalks on Central Street would be under construction this summer.
