Bigwarfe Will Run For St. Lawrence County SheriffPosted: Updated:
The day after St. Lawrence County Sheriff Kevin Wells announced he is not running for re-election, his undersheriff has announced his bid for the post.
Brooks Bigwarfe says he will make his formal announcement on Friday.
In a letter to fellow Republicans, he cited his 32 years of experience with the sheriff's office and said he is confident he can be an effective, strong leader.
The following is the content of his letter:
Dear Fellow Republicans:
As you may know, Sheriff Wells has announced that he will not seek re-election for Sheriff. As Undersheriff, and with many years of experience working in law enforcement, I happily announce that I will be running for St. Lawrence County Sheriff in the upcoming election.
I have worked for the St. Lawrence County’s Sheriff’s Office for the past 32 years, and it has been my pleasure to serve. I have been very fortunate to work under some remarkable Sheriffs, who not only were my mentors, but also my friends. Sheriff Keith Knowlton, Sheriff Gary Jarvis, and Sheriff Kevin Wells were all different in the way they handled things, but the one thing they had in common was that they were good leaders. I am confident that I too can be an effective, strong leader as I continue to serve the citizens of St. Lawrence County.
Please join me and my family and friends on Friday, February 8, 2019, at 11 a.m. at the St. Lawrence County Court House when I officially announce my candidacy. I appreciate your support, and look forward to seeing you then.
