Local town highway crews knew the ice was coming.
In the town of LeRay, they wanted to get out ahead of it.
Dan Young, the highway superintendent, says crews start with main roads, then back roads.
To hit everywhere it takes 2 and a half hours.
Before the freezing rain started Wednesday, 5 trucks were out pre-treating surfaces.
"We use a salt-sand mix. The sand is for grit. The salt will hopefully stay on the road and keep the ice from sticking so badly," said Young.
Crews expected to be out all night because of the icing.
