Friday starts out warm and rainy, but it will get colder and snowy later. Winds will be very strong, too.
There's a high wind warning for Jefferson County and a wind advisory for Lewis County until 7 p.m.
There's also a wind advisory for St. Lawrence County until 10 a.m. on Saturday.
Winds could gust to 60 miles per hour for Jefferson County and 50 miles per hour in the rest of the north country.
As far as snow, there's a winter weather advisory for Jefferson and Lewis counties until 7 p.m. Friday.
Lake effect snow could accumulate 3 to 5 inches where the snowfall is heaviest.
The lake effect will eventually settle over Oswego County, where they expected from 6 to 12 inches of snow.
Temperatures started the day in the 40s and will drop into the 20s through the afternoon.
The weekend will be calmer with mostly sunny or partly sunny skies both Saturday and Sunday, with highs in the 20s both days. Sunshine and highs in the 20s are on tap for Monday, too.
Snow is likely on Tuesday with a chance of snow on Wednesday and Thursday.
