Donald E. Hosley, 83, Adams passed away Sunday, February 10th at the Carthage Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing, Carthage, NY.
The funeral mass will be held at St. Cecilia’s Church, Grove St., Adams on Monday, February 18th at 11:00 am with Father Martin Cline officiating. Calling hours will be held at Carpenter-Stoodley Funeral Home, Belleville, Sunday February 17th from 1pm – 5pm.
Donald was born in Andover, NY the son to Maurice A. and Margaret Madison Hosley. He was a 1953 graduate of Scio Central School, Scio, NY. After graduating from high school Don enlisted in the US Army and served from 1953-1956. He retired after 20 years of service from the New York State Police. During his retirement he worked part-time for the Diocese of Ogdensburg.
He was a member of the Adams American Legion, Knights of Columbus and St. Cecilia’s Church.
Donald married Marilyn Brown, August 8,1981 in Adams. They lived most of their married life in Adams. A marriage to the mother of his children Donna Conklin Hosley ended in a divorce.
He is survived by his wife Marilyn, Adams; 3 sons, Mark A. Hosley, Norfolk, VA; Adrian (Kerrie) Hosley, Rodman, NY; Emery Hosley, Adams; daughter, Kim (Bill) Leroux, Lorraine; 2 step-daughters, Rebecca Golding, Ithaca, NY; Diane (Gary) Johnson, Carthage, NY; step-son, Timothy Golding, Adams. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents he was predeceased by his brother, James Hosley and 2 sisters, Mary Baker and Margaret Josphine Grisewood, as well as 1 grandchild.
