On Heels Of Section Title, Lyme Set To Take On HarrisvillePosted: Updated:
Coming off its first Section 3 boys' basketball title in 41 years, Lyme is the number-one team in state Class D rankings for the first time ever.
The Indians will face Harrisville, the 11th-ranked team in the New York State Sports Writers Association, this Friday night.
The last time we saw the Lyme boys' basketball team, they were defeating DeRuyter for the Section 3 Class D championship 54-50 on Sunday.
The players have had time for it to sink in.
"It's an amazing accomplishment, it's something we've worked hard for many, many years to accomplish," team member Isaiah Wilson said.
Wilson said he remembers as a younger student looking up at the sectional title banner the team won in 1978 and thinking the team will win it again, "so to finally get that was amazing."
Hear more from Wilson in the video, along with fellow players Damon Blaha, Ryan Aubertine, Tyler Wilson, Riley O'Brien, and Coach Leo Wilson.
The Indians have a date in the states with talented a Harrisville team at 7:45 p.m. at SUNY Potsdam on Friday.
When the two teams met earlier in the season, the Pirates won by 6 points.
