Waddington - Edith I. MacDonald, 91, of Oak Street, passed away on Tuesday evening, March 5, 2019 at Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center.
Friends and family may be received on Sunday, March 10, 2019 from 3:00 - 6:00 pm at Phillips Memorial Home in Waddington. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, March 11, 2019 at 11:00 AM at St. Mary’s Church in Waddington. Interment will take place at St. Mary’s Cemetery in the spring.
Edith was born on June 22, 1927 in Waddington, the son of Alvin and Mildred (Newvine) Prashaw. She graduated from Waddington School in 1946 and on July 27, 1948, she married John MacDonald at St. Mary’s Church. John predeceased her on October 27, 1999.
Edith was very active in her Parish where she was a Sacristan for 66 years, a member of the Altar and Rosary Society at St. Mary’s and served as a Eucharistic Minister. Edith was also a member of Al-anon, an avid reader and enjoyed knitting and crocheting for her family and friends and playing pinochle.
Edith is survived by two sons and two daughters, Stephen and Vicki of Waddington, NY, Michael MacDonald and companion Maggie Love of CA, Kathleen Vallance of Raymondville, NY, Elaine and Danny Mayette of NC; eight grandchildren, James MacDonald, Ryan (Jessica) and Tyler Mayette, Jonathan MacDonald and Eric Adams, Ana, Alli and Katie Love; several nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased by her sisters, Elizabeth Becker, Lorraine Blair and a brother, Alvin Prashaw.
