A bill working its way through Albany could breathe new life into a renewable energy plant in Lewis County.
We're told the legislation would create a new contract for the Lyonsdale Biomass plant, which essentially burns wood chips for renewable energy.
The plant shut down in December 2017, after the state did not renew a contract with the company.
Assemblyman Ken Blankenbush says this will help both the Lyonsdale plant and another plant on Fort Drum.
"Putting them on an equal footing with the solar and the wind mill funding," said Blankenbush (R. - 117th Assembly District).
The bill has been sent to committee for discussion.
