State basketball was the game of the day at SUNY Potsdam Friday night with the Boys' and Girls' Class D Quarterfinals with the winners headed to the state final four. First up, the girls as Edwards Knox takes on Copenhagen.
Edwards Knox's Carly Frary passed to Abby Hart who got the roll for three. Frary also gets into the three-ball act, putting the Cougars up 10. Brooke Smykla answered with a layin. It was Frary again with one from beyond the arc. The Cougars expanded their lead to 19. Lucy Frary with the breakaway layup and Morgan Smith passed to Madison Freeman for a bucket. Coryn Rowe passed to Lucy Frary. The Cougars advance to the New York State Class D Final Four with a 64-18 win over Copenhagen.
In the boys' game, it was Lyme vs. Harrisville. Lyme's Isaiah Wilson with a spin move and a layup, putting the Indians up by 5. Tyler Wilson with a three pointer from the corner. Indians up 17-10 after one quarter. Harrisville's Nate Schmitt passed to Scott Roberts for the three-pointer, tying the game at 20-20. The three pointers keep rolling in and Isaiah Wilson answers with a rainbow. Nolan Parrow with a splash from the corner. Jadon Sullivan also buries a three-pointer. The Pirates went on a 21-8 run in the third quarter to grab the lead. Sullivan again in the paint. Harrisville goes on to beat Lyme 64-56.
