Plans Move Forward To Connect Downtown With Riverfront
Plans for connecting downtown Watertown with the Black River riverfront are starting to take shape.
Consultants from Saratoga Associates presented a feasibility study to city planners and council members Wednesday.
Ideas were discussed about ways to connect downtown with the riverfront, such as extending the Black River Parkway and adding walkways to Newell Street.
Ideas for the multi-million dollar expansion project were last presented over the summer.
"It's a little bit challenging because of the limited space that we have," city planner Michael Lumbis said, "but with the right ideas, which we've got, the proper planning and design, we can make it happen."
Armed with feedback from the meeting, consultants returned to their drawing boards to finalize plans over the next few months.
