The North Country Arts Council’s March Feature Exhibit, in partnership with EyeCrave Optics on the Square, will showcase Gary Walts' very expressive photography.
As a preamble to his show, here is how he describes his fascination with this medium:
"I was fascinated by photography ever since I was a child looking through my father’s photography magazines. I was intrigued not only by the photos displayed in each issue, but also by the ads for exotic looking cameras and lenses. I would study the photos in Life and Look magazines and wonder why family snapshots didn’t look the same.
As a medium, photography satisfies my artistic, scientific, humanistic, and mechanical interests. A single photograph can be artistic, scientific, and expressive simultaneously. That is the magic of the medium.
Professionally I have earned a living as a photojournalist as well as a wedding and portrait photographer. I have freelanced for Associated press, USA Today and many other publications. I have had work published in two issues of Life Magazine. "
The exhibit is running from March 16 to the March 30, with the opening reception on March 16 from 4-7pm, where light refreshments will be served.
Free to NCAC members, and a $5 suggested donation to the general public.
