900 Flu Cases Confirmed In Jefferson County This Season

Posted: Updated:

Friends have the flu? Maybe it's you? Flu activity is currently high across Jefferson County.

Since October 1, more than 900 flu cases have been recorded and 91 of those have occurred just within the last three days.

Jefferson County Public Health educators say it's too soon to tell if this is a peak in the flu season and that it's not too late to get your flu shot.

"It is widespread. We want people to have their flu vaccine, of course. The flu season lasts until May, so if you haven't gotten it, you can still get your flu shot," said Lisa Lagos, educator.

Lewis County has far fewer reported cases compared to last year. So far, more than 300 flu cases have been recorded - a majority of them in February.

In St. Lawrence County, more than 800 flu cases have been reported since October.
