Clarkson Men Win ECAC Title, NCAA Tourney Bid in Overtime ThrillerPosted: Updated:
With the men's ECAC Hockey Championship up for grabs Saturday night, the Golden Knights of Clarkson rose to the occasion.
The stage for a thriller was set in Lake Placid where Clarkson beat Cornell 3-2.
The game and ECAC title was clinched in overtime when Clarkson's Chris Klack stuck home the loose puck in front for the game winner.
The other two Clarkson goals were scored on powerplays by Devin Brosseau.
With this victory, Clarkson also clinches an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
The Golden Knights are the second seed in the Northeast Regional and will meet Notre Dame in opening round action Friday at 6:30 p.m. in Manchester, New Hampshire.

Clarkson Women's Gabel Wins Top Player Award
Meanwhile, Loren Gabel, a senior forward on the Clarkson women's team, was named the winner of the Patty Kazmaier Award, which is women's college hockey's version of the Heisman Trophy.
Gabel is the second Lady Golden Knight to win the honor.
Gabel, who led the Lady Golden Knights to two straight national championship, was also named the ECAC Player of the Year for a second straight year.
The Clarkson women saw their season end Friday in a NCAA Frozen Four matchup against Wisconsin.
