Rocky Horror Takes Over Sackets: Sold Out Every Show

Posted: Updated:

Lights, Dancing and lots of interaction from the crowd, all part of another sold out night for the cast of Rocky Horror Picture Show put on by Watertown Lyric Theater.

"It's incredible this is one of the best experiences I have ever been a part of," enthused Brian Elliott, who plays the character of Brad in the production.

"Amazing it's such a unique show and it's something you don't get to do in theater normally, an absurd plot. You go from one character become something completely different by the end of it," said Leah Beyer, who plays Janet.

The cast of the show put on three performances this weekend at the Sackets Harbor Ball Room, all of which sold out.

"It's turned out to be a huge hit here. And part of that reason is enthusiastic fans of the cult classic. Some even dressed up," said Jonathan Cole, President of Water Lyric Theater.

"I mean you can't see Rocky Horror Picture Show and not dress up," said attendee, Amanda Rashleigh.

"I'm a huge fan of the Rocky Horror Show - for many, many years. It's the first time I'm watching a live stage production so I'm very excited," enthused Jeanette Rushford, also in attendance.

Some fans said they also came out to help support local theater. Many theater companies in the Watertown area don't have their own facility which means they have to find places to fit their show.

The president of Watertown Lyric theater says it took about two week to transform the ballroom into a theater.

"It's a challenge. I mean it presents it's own challenges we have to bring in all our own lighting, all our own sound, all our own stage," explained Jonathan Cole.

The final showing of Watertown Lyric Theater's production was on Saturday night.

7 News is a sponsor of the show.
