A Glimpse of Nice Weather to ComePosted: Updated:
The streets were pretty quiet Sunday and there's still some ice on the water, but the weather's warming up and 'open' signs are popping back up in the Thousand Islands.
A sign that the full effect of spring isn't too far away.
"The winters are hard, but it's worth it. When spring and summer come around, it's gorgeous," said Clayton resident Art Cady.
Like many who enjoy the St. Lawrence River, Cady said he's looking forward to getting his boats on the water.
Warmer weather also means more people and that's something businesses are looking forward to.
"Lots of people, bring it on," says Amber Parliament kept on her feet serving customers at the the Koffee Kove in Clayton. She expects to see even more tables filled as the spring season continues.
"It's just a lot of fun to have people around. We're ready for it," Parliament said.
Of course, many of those people are seasonal visitors like Al Michaels, who's in town getting his family's summer cottage ready.
"Turn the water on and just wait for the nicer weather. My kids have boats with us," Michaels said. "At our cottage, we have four boats over there. We'll go to Potter's Beach and spend the day over there."
Sunny days filled with activities, both on and off the water, they aren't too much further away.
