Postal Workers Collect Food To 'Stamp Out Hunger'

Posted: Updated:

Mail carriers want your help to "stamp out hunger."

Along with delivering mail Saturday, postal workers will be out collecting non-perishable foods for local food pantries.

Put them in a bag by your mailbox and postal workers take care of the rest.

"They get a lot of donations are the holidays at the end of the year, but this time of year they're low on items," letter carrier Jeff Rutigliano said. "With the kids getting out of school it helps them fill up the pantries and help families that way."

The postal service will still take bags early next week. The drive collects around 70 million pounds of food each year nationwide.
